I used to post a lot on social media. It was a way for me to share my thoughts and connect with people I didn’t know in real life. But sometimes, I would worry about whether or not I was taking up too much space online. I’d think about “bloating timelines” and how people might stop following me if they saw too many of my posts.

But then I realized something: it’s okay if people see less of my posts. They don’t have to follow me if they don’t want to. And there’s an algorithm Facebook uses to decide what people see on their timelines, so it’s not like I’m taking up more space than anyone else.

Plus, being on social media a lot can be really taxing, especially if you’re not used to it. So, I decided that it was okay for me to take a break from posting, for my mental health. And that’s what I’m doing now.

I was scrolling through my Facebook feed when I saw an article that I didn’t want to read. It was about a political issue that I didn’t feel strongly about. But, before I could scroll past it, my friend had already commented on the article. And then, another friend chimed in.

Ugh, why do they have to be so annoying? I thought to myself. It seems like nowadays; everybody has an opinion on everything and they just can’t help but share it. It’s like they think their opinion is the only one that matters.

But am I really any different? Aren’t I guilty of the same thing? Sure, I don’t always share my opinions online, but there are times when I can be just as annoying as everyone else. Like when I post about something that nobody else cares about or when I keep sharing articles or memes that people have already seen a million times.

Am I really any better than the people who are annoyingly sharing their opinions online? Probably not. That is why I make privacy settings for some reposts or publications on my page. I choose the option to have it appear on my timeline just for me.
